Lackawanna
Valley National Heritage Area Management Action Plan and EIS
After 10 years as a successful
state heritage area, the National Park Service designated the Lackawanna Valley
as a National Heritage Area. KSK lead a team to prepare the required Management
Action Plan and EIS. This project includes 1.) an interpretive plan that tells
the story of how anthracite coal, with 80% of the world’s supply located
in Northeastern Pennsylvania, changed the economic and social history of the
United States and 2.) an assessment of the environmental impacts of the area’s
designation as a National Heritage Area.
